Morning Storms and Villa Monastero

I completely forgot to post the panoramic shots from yesterday in my rush to get a good internet connection. I also apologize for any typos because of said rush. Now on to the pics:

From the Castello Di Venzio.

On the ferry to Bellagio.

From the Villa Melzi Gardens.

This morning we awoke to more thunderstorms and pouring rain and it was actually pretty crisp and chilly. So we had a really lazy morning. When the rain cleared we made our way toward the train station to book our train trip to Zurich. We had to book in advance in order to secure seats. Not three minutes after we left the hotel did we get poured on, at this point we figured well, we're already on our way so lets keep pushing forward. We probably should have turned around because we forgot how far the train station was, it was a good 15 minute walk in the pouring rain. We were drenched. We booked our tickets and decided to dry out in a restaurant nearby. While we ate the clouds cleared and the sun came out. It was again, magical.

We are planning on going to Lenno tomorrow, the town across from Bellagio to visit the Villa Del Balbianello. Some of you 007 fans will know it as the place in the newest Casino Royale where James recovers after the Aston Martin crash and wooden chair violence scenes. Or for Star Wars fans, its the villa where Anakin Skywalker (Pre-Darth Vader) falls in love with Padme Amidala (future mother of Luke and Leia) in Episode 2.

Fun Casino Royale fact: The Villa at the end of the movie where James shoots the evil handler/banker is actually down the lake a bit further and is currently for sale, no price listed or I'd tell you.

Anyhow, because we're planning on doing the Villa Balbianello thing tomorrow for our last day in Itay, we decided to continue on with our lazy day and visit the Villa Montasero near our hotel. The entrance was literally next to our hotel and we hadn't even ventured far enough down to notice it was that close.

Lime + Lemon Tree = Sprite Tree. Sadly, it was actually an unripe clementine tree.

Brian losing a battle with an Agave plant.

More lens flare!

Each one of the sides of posts had a different face on it, these were my favorites. (Frankie, you'll love the 'staches on some of these.)

This guy's head blew off from viewing too many centuries of natural beauty. Its dangerous.

The village of Fiumellate, which is just south of Varenna.

Looking back toward Varenna.

A bit of contrast on this wall.

Our hotel off in the distance.

Behind this door was actually a really cool underground boat storage area, there was an awesome dilapidated wooden boat inside this large grotto, but it was too dark to get a shot.

Brian showcasing some sort of giant fruit. Note: He's kind of sad right now because of his poor beard growth this trip, he was really looking forward to it since he can't have one for work, and its come in pretty patchy and weak. Usually its pretty full at this point. I'll photoshop more in later for the photobook and make him feel better.

This lady must have tried Swiss fondue.

Excuse me, I need to use the Tornado. This may be the prettiest toilet ever.

The top two pics are of a strange plant called the Banano, crazy flower.

Brian came out of the bathroom like this, obviously the beard was not cutting it for him. We'll see if the mustache stays. Ciao for now!
