Bellagio is quite a bit busier than Varenna, its full of restaurants and has a good number of shops (mainly jewelry). It has very similar stairways to Varenna, just more of them. Its the perfect place to take a long lunch (under cover) and window shop, so we did. We walked down to the Bellagio gardens and then decided to save it for a nicer day since they were charging admission.

Menaggio Ride By

Menaggio again

More Menaggio...

Ok, you get it.

Menaggio again, in case you were wondering.

To the right you can see a little church on the hill, its all that is up there.

Bellagio is pretty stunning even when its gray.

IVY!!!!

Can't get enough of the ivy, seriously.

A stairway in Bellagio.

Just noticed Brian's hood has these weird ear covering things. Very NASA like.

Above three photos are shots off Bellagio from the main promenade.
We headed back to Varenna to check out the garden that is part of our Hotel (fee waived since we are staying here). The garden was very pretty and rustic with all the old world Italian charm you'd expect from a village like Varenna.

Brian conquering Italy (notice no stupid kid in the shot this time).

Our Hotel from the garden.

A view over to Bellagio (the darkest hill).

Looking up toward our room (we are the one with the balcony). Who knew it was the only one.

Translates to Save. As in Save your money and get over here.

Appears as if bubblegum is a very strong mending aid here. Brian said it tasted like peppermint.........just kidding.

As we were finishing up our stroll it began to pour, as in buckets. We decided to brave it and head to dinner. It started raining even harder as soon as we stepped out of our hotel so we ran, then 25 yards from out hotel the lightning started, so we ran faster. We sprinted for 100 yards to the closest restaurant we could find in Varenna's main square. We were soaked. For some reason they sat most of the patrons in the back of the restaurant which was basically a porch with walls, a plastic roof and side windows that were thick plastic film. The wind picked up and the rain fell harder. Everyone in the restaurant was looking up wondering how well this roof was constructed. We watched the lightning and listened to the thunder while we waited for our food. Water actually started to drip in and the plastic film windows started to bubble with wind. At this point they started asking people if they wanted to move inside. We were halfway through our meal at this point and declined. Five minutes later the weather got worse, so I looked at Brian and he was thinking the same thing. "Il Conto." (the bill). We put on our jackets, hoods synched tight and headed out of the restaurants with the server and restaurant owner wishing us good luck. And we ran. We ran through giant puddles and bursts of lightning and loud booms of thunder back to our Hotel. Again, we were soaked, but it was pretty fun despite the wet jeans.
